Experiments from Class

I really like pictures from odd perspectives an ones that show depth.  I was trying to figure out how to make my little point and shoot camera do what I want and didn't find the right setting to prevent blowing out the sky.  I think the best answer would be a faster shutter speed, but I'm not sure that is possible. I believe this was taken at the lowest possible ISO and shutter speed.

I ran into the same blow out problem with this picture but did get the blurred background that I was aiming for.  In order to get the more shallow depth of field the f/stop was lowered with one of the settings (macro I believe) and I still didn't know what I could adjust to darken the photo.

So....I did move the leaves to position them in the grass to help with this photo, but i was trying to play with the perspective.  I was also not shooting directly into the setting sun in these two pictures which helped with the over-exposed areas that were present in the previous pictures.  I really liked the difference in perspective and the different effect it gave these two pictures.

This is the angle we all walk past on our way to Photography class on Tuesday's and Thursdays.  I always think of it as being giant and figured I could take a photo to express that.  The setting sun gave me a nice shadow to add to the different lines that guide a view through the photo.  I'm not sure they are guided the correct direction but it was an attempt.

I couldn't help but notice the fall colors starting to emerge on campus.  I am a huge fan of the color red too and couldn't pass up the opportunity.  I tried taking this from a couple different angles but I had to go with back lighting because every other angle had over-exposed areas, especially in the sky.

This picutre was taken on the way to Cody, Wyoming this weekend.  I went on the climbing trip and when we looked back the sun was red due to all the smoke in the air.  I am not super happy with the way the colors turned out because they were MUCH more vibrant and beautiful in person.  I really like the blurred effect on the bottom third of the picture though.  I think a little lightbox would make this photo better.
